Louise Trevitt, creative mama presenting ‘Creativity and the Art of Healing’

Some of you may or may not be aware that in addition to running this fabulous Mama Creatives community, I am also a registered clinical art therapist. I currently work with children from domestic violence backgrounds, and teach art to year 10 students who have become disengaged from the traditional school system. These children all have many challenges to overcome triggered by early or on-going trauma. This can then present in different forms of anxiety, fragile self esteem, low confidence, learning difficulties, anger and behavioural problems. I am extremely proud of my work with all of these children and adolescents where I have introduced various art processes to help them express their feelings and manage their emotions. They have been able to create work that is meaningful to them, and use the power of this creative therapeutic process to form insight, which in turn can improve their situation.

At the end of this term, in two weeks, my contract at both these organisations will come to an end. Whilst I love working with children and seeing their amazing progress I also find the timing serendipitous as I am planning some incredible opportunities for our Mama Creatives community.
