I don’t know who makes the colour rules but I’ve heard over the years that pink and red ‘don’t work together’. Why?! Firstly I would have to say rules are meant to be broken, and secondly they look quite fabulous together, especially in nature, where the most creative colour schemes are at play.

Why pink? October is breast cancer awareness month and pink is the colour representing this cause. At the upcoming Creative Mama Evening Talk, ‘Creativity and the Art of Healing’, our featured presenter Louise Trevitt, will share her personal story of overcoming breast cancer and how the creative process played an integral role in her healing.

To honour Louise’s personal story, as well as raise awareness for other women suffering a similar plight, we will hold a raffle to support breast cancer research. In keeping with the spirit of this cause, we encourage people to wear something PINK. The best pink outfit will receive a special prize, courtesy of a very special creative mama from our community, artist and illustrator Jennifer Reid, who is currently recovering from a massive breast cancer operation.

Since Jennifer will be unable to attend our upcoming event next Thursday evening, she is kindly donating a copy of ‘Courageous & Quirky – Colouring to Conquer Cancer’, to our raffle. This is an adult colouring book endorsed by the National Breast Cancer Foundation, featuring a range of her favourite illustrations. Jennifer is a breast cancer survivor and has used art as therapy in her ongoing healing. The purpose of this book is to promote mindfulness and creativity for people going through cancer treatment or any other difficult life challenge. You can purchase a copy of this book online, with $1 from every book sold going to help fund breast cancer research.
