MUMS 4 REFUGEES: This amazing organisation has created one of the few things that has helped in the refugee campaign – litigation – ensuring the most desperate have lawyers fighting hard for them.
Last year they raised enough funds for two human rights lawyers to work an entire year at the National Justice Project. They have been able to get women with breast lumps treatment, get women access to abortions after rape and medical evacuations when people were near death. They have also been representing some of the men on Manus.
They need these lawyers to stay on for another year, so have launched a crowdfunding campaign, with all donations tax deductible.
The campaign: To fund two lawyers to work at the National Justice Project. It is a pro bono social justice law firm. Principal Solicitor is George Newhouse.
This situation is desperate, but we can make a difference. If everyone just gave $5 – $10 we could really help get this campaign over the line. This would be an amazing gesture, especially at this special time of year.
